Procrastinate or Accelerate!

Writer's picture: Julie RoccaJulie Rocca

What plans did you have for today, last week, or even last month? So, how far did you get? Still, talking about it? I'm going to do this; I'm going to do that, when the times right, when it's not too hot, when it's not too cold, when - whenever! Are you looking at the calendar and freaking out because days are running away from you. Or are you optimistic with anticipation of all you can accomplish with enthusiasm?

Napoleon Hill once said, "Procrastination is the bad habit of putting off until the day after tomorrow what should have been done the day before yesterday." How true a statement we can appreciate.

Not doing what you have intended to do only develops frustration, which can turn to resentment—eventually giving ground for fear to settle in. Once fear establishes ownership, we are pretty much stuck until we take some serious action to pull us out.

98% of our frustration and resentments come from our very own bad decisions. Taking responsibility for your part in every situation or circumstance brings you back into your rightful place.

Being in the right place will now make available for your opportunity to make better decisions. Every choice you make today and every day must have a purpose, ultimately to move you in the direction of your aspiration.

There is nothing more fulfilling than completing a task you set out to do. Once you have made the decision, give yourself a time frame.

My favorite thing to do is race the clock. There is something very satisfying in giving yourself a set time. Start small; sometime today, put aside 15 minutes for something you have put off. Make that call, clear your in-box, vacuum the car, follow up, follow through - take back your life and do it now!

"So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise people but as wise, making the most of your time because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." - Ephesians 5:15-17
